KINGSFORD — Kingsford High School students Peyton Johnson and Brooke Kriegl have been awarded a Certificate of Merit from the Michigan Technological University Society of Women Engineers program.

This is a distinguished award acknowledged by many colleges and universities as a significant achievement. The purpose of the Certificate of Merit Program is to give these women, who have exhibited outstanding performance in math and science, the recognition they deserve while introducing them to engineering. A high grade point average, strong academic interest, and active school involvement are also qualities that are considered for this award.

Johnson, a senior, is the daughter of Paul and Marian Johnson of Iron Mountain, and Kriegl, a junior, is the daughter of Joseph and Laura Kriegl of Kingsford.
