Man killed in crash in southern Marinette County
MARINETTE, Wis. — Authorities have identified the town of Peshtigo man killed Sunday night when the vehicle he was driving crashed into a large oak tree near Peshtigo in southern Marinette County.
The four-door sedan was northbound at a high rate of speed on County Trunk BB/Shore Drive in the town of Peshtigo just before 8 p.m. Sunday when Edward Moreno Jr. apparently lost control and the vehicle went off the roadway, striking the tree, according to the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office.
The 42-year-old Moreno, who was alone in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the crash site of massive head and internal injuries, the office stated in a news release. Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash, the sheriff’s office stated.
This was Marinette County’s 10th traffic fatality in 2018.
