Medicine academy coming to St. Norbert

De PERE, Wis. — The Medical College of Wisconsin-Green Bay and St. Norbert College are partnering to offer high school students two Summer Academy of Medicine experiences on June 18-21 and June 24-27.

During each three-and-a-half-day program, students will explore careers in medicine and the biomedical sciences, engage in hands-on active learning in classrooms and laboratories, and gain insights into the skills, educational paths and personal qualities required for a career as a physician, researcher or scientist.

The programs will be housed in St. Norbert College’s state-of-the-art Gehl-Mulva Science Center, home of MCW’s Green Bay campus.

Classes will be taught by faculty from MCW-Green Bay and St. Norbert College, with a strong emphasis on ethics, collaborative work and leadership.

The programs are open to students entering their junior or senior year of high school; a limited number of scholarships are available.

Participants will be housed in St. Joseph Hall on the St. Norbert campus. The cost is $800 per participant and includes meals, snacks, housing and evening activities.

Parents will be invited to join their student for the closing ceremony and lunch, as well as tours of campus and sessions on college admission and financial aid.

To register, go to www.snc.edu/academyofmedicine. A limited number of slots are available. Prevea Health is the presenting sponsor of Summer Academy of Medicine.
