Dorothy Occhietti vocational scholarship winners announced

IRON MOUNTAIN — Michael Mulligan, President of the Dorothy Occhietti Dickinson County Vocational Scholarship Association recently announced the scholarship winners for this year.

This year’s recipients are Justin Hood, a senior at Iron Mountain High School, who is attending Ridgewater College and Kingsford High School senior Noah Jacko, who attending Bay College in the fall.

Applicants must be graduating from a Dickinson County High School and enrolling in a two year technical program, associate degree, or certificate program.

The association would like to extend gratitude to all of the business partners that generously donated to the scholarship fund this year. Donors this year include: 41 Lumber, Bacco Construction, Evergreen Senior Living, Fleury, Singler & Company P.C., Garrett Eye Center, Markell Company, MBM Construction Co., Northern Eye Care Associates.

Since its inception more than 35 years ago the association has awarded 80 scholarships totaling more than $76,000.

Mulligan would like to extend a sincere thanks to members of the scholarship committee who attend meetings and analyze applications each year. Current members include: Ted Paquin, Francis Brouillette, Al Pirkola, Jerry Picucci, Gene Whippler, James Petroff, Patti Arnold, and Paul Bonsall.
