NORWAY — The second concert of Music In The Park 2019 will feature a group that first appeared to Norway music fans last summer.

The free summertime music series will continue Thursday at 7 p.m. at the band shell in downtown Norway with Carolyn Jo and Company playing a variety of old and new music that is pleasing to the ear and soul.

Lead singer Carolyn Weber-Starling is originally from Chicago and now resides in Florence, Wis. She may only be 5 feet tall, but she can belt it out like Bonnie Raitt.  She is accompanied by her father, lead guitarist Gary Weber, bassist Paul Sundquist and drummer Jeff Worrel. Weber, Sundquist and Worrel have played in various blues, rock and reggae bands and really compliment Starling’s rich voice. This eclectic mix of musicians is sure to entertain.

“We hope folks that come into Iron Mountain for ‘Out to Lunch’ and enjoy “The Derrell Syria Project,” have a nice dinner in the area and come on down to the beautiful band shell park for this free performance as many folks do all summer during this fabulous series.” event coordinator Carol Sundstrom said.

Music in the Park hopes to have food and beverages available for this program. Some seating is available at the band shell but those taking in the performances can bring lawn chairs to enjoy the music.

In case of inclement weather, concerts will be held at the Crossroads Church behind the historical museum on O’Dill Drive.

Major underwriters for the concerts include The Curtis Brackett Fund, Law Offices of Tinti and Goodman, Vulcan-Norway-Loretto Lions Club, Integrity Care EMS, Norway Area Preservation Society and season sponsor Jim’s Music of Iron Mountain.

Upcoming Music in the Park performances include:

June 27: Kind of Blues

July 11: The Cadillacs

July 18: The Daydreamers

July 25: Stress Test

Aug. 1: Hand Picked Bluegrass

Aug. 8: Flagship Romance

Aug. 15: Norton Chartier & Company.
