Florence museum to open Saturday

Society’s annual strawberry social, quilt show set for June 22

The Florence County Historical Society will host a strawberry social and quilt show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 22 at 201 Florence Ave., Florence Wis.

FLORENCE, Wis. –The Florence County Historical Society will open its museum in Florence for the summer season at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The annual Strawberry Social and Quilt and Craft Show will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at the Webb-Judge house and the museum at 201 Florence Ave.

Members will serve an old-fashioned strawberry social under a canopy. Enjoy a treat either before or after a tour of the museum and the quilt show in the house. The quilt show and museum are free.

New this year, The Piece Makers Quilt Club of Florence will show some of their projects.

Tickets will sold for a drawing that includes a quilt, “Oh My Stars,” quilt rack, handmade Amish rag rugs and other great prizes.

— June 27, 10 a.m., walking tour of downtown Florence. Walking tours also are scheduled for 10 a.m. July 20 and 5 p.m. Aug. 15.

— July 17, 6 p.m., ceremony for George Baird, the last Civil War veteran buried at Woodlawn Cemetery.
