IM marijuana rubric posted

IRON MOUNTAIN — The city of Iron Mountain has posted a medical marijuana facility application scoring rubric on the city’s website, www.cityofironmountain.com.

The scoring system, which was finalized by the city council on Thursday, will be used to evaluate each applicant’s qualifications and ability to operate, along with the potential economic and neighborhood impact of the proposed business.

The council June 2 approved both a medical marijuana facilities ordinance and accompanying zoning rules. Potential businesses will have a 45-day application period once the ordinance takes effect next week.

The ordinance provides rules to regulate dispensaries, along with growing, processing, transporting and safety compliance facilities. A maximum of two of each will be allowed, thus creating the need for merit-based scoring.
