Appleton teen seriously injured in collision of SUV, motorcycle
BREITUNG TOWNSHIP — An Appleton, Wis., teen riding as a motorcycle passenger was seriously injured Saturday after a collision with a sport utility vehicle, according to a release from the Michigan State Police, Iron Mountain Post.
Troopers responded to the crash about 6:45 p.m. on Peterson Road near County Road 607.
The passenger, an 18-year-old female, initially was taken to the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The motorcycle operator, a 36-year-old Gladstone man, was arrested for operating while impaired and is jailed at the Dickinson County Jail, according to the release. The SUV driver, a 29-year-old Iron Mountain man, was not cited.
Names are not being released at this time.
State Police were assisted by the Breitung Township Fire Department and Beacon Ambulance.
