VA to host concerts

The Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain welcomes the community to free concerts Tuesday and on July 30, followed by a dessert social. “Our veteran residents don’t always get the opportunity to go out to local concerts, so inviting the musicians and community here is a great way for us to interact together,” said Katie Maxon, chief of voluntary service. Concerts will be at 6:30 p.m. in the pavilion, which is to the west of the facility, accessible from Cedar Avenue by taking the third entrance on the left. Bring blankets or lawn chairs as desired. Local musician Jerry Pirkola will perform Tuesday, followed by Mark Young and Bill Morrison on July 30.
