Alzheimer’s walk planned on Sept. 7

IRON MOUNTAIN — A Walk to End Alzheimer’s Disease will be held Saturday, Sept. 7.

Registration will be at 9 a.m. at Family Ties Adult Center, located in the Dickinson Iron Community Services building at 1238 Carpenter Ave. in Iron Mountain.

There will be a short ceremony at 10 a.m. and the walk will begin at 10:15 a.m.

This walk is not only a fundraiser for Alzheimer’s care, support and research but more importantly it is an event to raise awareness.

Alzheimer’s disease is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States. 5.8 million people are living with Alzheimer’s.

Every 65 seconds someone is diagnosed with this devastating disease, yet only 16 percent of the elderly population receive a cognitive/memory test during regular exams. The statistics are staggering.

Consider walking on Sept. 7 and show your support and love to all those suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and their families.
