US-2 project starts Monday

LANSING – The Michigan Department of Transportation is investing $2.3 million to resurface 9.3 miles of U.S. 2 from Vulcan east to the Menominee County line.

The work will require single-lane closures beginning Monday. One alternating lane will be open via traffic regulators.

The project includes asphalt cold milling and resurfacing, joint repairs, aggregate shoulders and pavement markings.

The estimated completion date is Oct. 24.

Meanwhile, in Wisconsin’s Marinette County, Highway 64 will be closed from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Wednesday near Townline Road for a pipe replacement.

There will be a signed detour utilizing County Highway P and County Highway W.
