Farmers, artisans market at different location this week

IRON MOUNTAIN — The 2019 Iron Mountain Farmers and Artisans Summer Market will take place Saturday at a new time and a new location.

With Oktoberfest and the IM Run Half Marathon taking place in downtown Iron Mountain, the market will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Tractor Supply Co. store, 1860 S. Stephenson Ave.

The shift will ensure enough room for vendors and market patrons, said Nancy Schaub, market manager.

“There will be plenty of parking available at Tractor Supply,” she said. “We want everyone to know we are open for business as usual.”

The public is asked to refrain from being in market area before 9 a.m. to give vendors a chance to set up their products safely.

The market will continue through Oct. 19 at the regular hours of 8 a.m. to noon and the normal downtown location.

“We are also looking forward to our indoor markets on Nov. 9 and Dec. 14 at the Izzo-Marriucci Center,” Schaub said.

The market will have a new vendor selling local honey, as well as fresh-cut greens, garlic, beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, fresh herbs, potatoes, winter squash, spaghetti squash, seasonal berries, mushrooms, eggs, meat, jam and maple syrup.

It also features locally produced crafts, art and baked goods. For a list of vendors, go to the market’s website at ironmountainfarmersmarket.com.

The market is managed Schaub with the Farmers Market Executive Committee under the auspices of the Downtown Development Authority.

Space may still be available for local artists and crafters producing unique products or materials. The market also is open to locally produced food products. Vendors will no longer be accepted on site but rather will be required to submit a completed application for the Market Committee to review. There is a cost to join the market.

The market also seeks musicians to perform.
