DNR advisory panel to meet

MARQUETTE – The Michigan Department of Natural Resources’ Western Upper Peninsula Citizens’ Advisory Council will meet Wednesday in Baraga.

Discussions are scheduled on Houghton County trails rehabilitation, erosion at Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park and the 2019 firearm deer season, as well as a report on the region’s turkey population.

The meeting will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Eastern time at the Baraga Lakeside Inn, 900 U.S. 41.

The public can participate by offering comments during two specified periods during the meeting.

The DNR’s eastern and western Upper Peninsula citizens’ advisory councils are designed to provide local input to advise the DNR on regional programs and policies, identify areas in which the department can be more effective and responsive and offer insight and guidance from members’ own experiences and constituencies.

To find nomination forms to be considered for a future council member vacancy, or to locate meeting packets and agendas, go to Michigan.gov/UPCAC.
