Dickinson County adds two more virus cases

Local health officials Wednesday reported two new COVID-19 positives in Dickinson County for a total of 68.

The Dickinson-Iron District Health Department also added two more recovered cases for the county on its Facebook page.

The state’s COVID-19 data site Wednesday listed eight new positives in Delta County, five in Houghton County, four in Chippewa County, three in Menominee County and one in Dickinson County, though still three short of the local tally. The state also reduced Ontonagon County’s count by one.

Wisconsin’s COVID-19 data site Wednesday indicated four more positives in Marinette County and three new cases each in Forest, Iron and Vilas counties. On Facebook, Forest County posted 83 cases and Vilas County 115 cases — two more and one more, respectively, than the state.

For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ data site Wednesday had Keweenaw County with two confirmed cases; Luce County, five confirmed cases; Baraga County, six confirmed cases and two probable; Schoolcraft County, 14 confirmed cases and one probable; Alger County, 16 confirmed and one probable; Mackinac County, 29 confirmed cases and eight probable; Iron County, 33 confirmed cases, two probable and one death; Ontonagon County, 33 confirmed and one probable; Chippewa County, 41 confirmed cases and 21 probable; Dickinson County, 65 confirmed cases, one probable and two deaths; Houghton County, 71 confirmed cases, 14 probable and one death; Delta County, 140 confirmed cases, 27 probable and three deaths; Gogebic County, 134 confirmed cases, 10 probable and a death; Marquette County, 212 confirmed cases, 36 probable and 11 deaths; and Menominee County, 225 confirmed cases and 31 probable. State numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services also earlier separately had prison inmates who were positive in Luce and Chippewa counties.

Using only the state figures Wednesday, the Upper Peninsula has had 1,028 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date with 19 deaths.

The MDHSS reported 524 confirmed new COVID-19 cases in Michigan on Wednesday for a total of 103,710 to date. The state added 14 new deaths Wednesday for a total of 6,509.

For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Wednesday had Marinette County with 618 confirmed cases, 20 probable cases and six deaths; Iron County 126 confirmed, six probable and one death; Vilas County 114 confirmed and one probable; Forest County, 81 confirmed, two probable and four deaths; and Florence County, 27 confirmed. As with the Michigan data, the state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Wisconsin recorded 545 new positives in the state Wednesday for a total of 77,129 to date, according to the state DHS data site. The state had 12 new COVID-19 deaths Wednesday for a total of 1,142.

According to the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department, Dickinson County as of Wednesday has had 68 confirmed COVID-19 positives and one probable case, with 51 recovered, two deaths and 16 cases still active. Iron County has had 32 confirmed positives and two probable, with 16 recovered, one death and 17 still active.

Dickinson County Healthcare System as of Wednesday showed 19 cases from Dickinson County and 36 cases from other counties; those counties are not identified. DCHS has tested 3,204 people for COVID-19, with 55 positive, 3,087 negative and 62 results still pending. DCHS noted there are several additional sources of testing in Dickinson County.
