Victims identified in IM fatal crash
IRON MOUNTAIN — Police today identified Craig Sorenson, 72, and his wife, Jaquie, also 72, of Aurora, Wis., as the victims of a double fatal accident that occurred Monday night on West A Street.
Investigation into the cause of the crash continues, said Ed Mattson, director of police and fire services. Craig Sorenson was the driver.
The crash occurred about 6:15 p.m. when a westbound SUV traveling at a high rate of speed hit a parked car on the 1200 block of West A Street and continued out of control into the 1300 block, striking a second parked car, officers said.
Both victims were transported to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital with grave injuries. Jaquie Sorenson died shortly after the crash while Craig Sorenson was airlifted to a Green Bay, Wis., hospital, and later died.
Assisting the Iron Mountain police and fire departments were a Michigan State Police accident investigator and Integrity Care EMS.
