Dickinson reports 11 new virus cases; Iron has five

Dickinson County has confirmed 11 new COVID-19 positives and Iron County five new since its last report Friday, local health officials said.

The Dickinson-Iron District Health Department posted on Facebook that Dickinson County also had 46 cases now considered recovered and Iron County eight recoveries.

The DIDHD on Monday had Dickinson County at 2,070 confirmed positives and 218 probable cases, with 2,014 recovered, 67 deaths and 207 cases still active. For Iron County, the DIDHD showed 829 confirmed cases and 65 probables, with 754 recovered, 34 deaths and 106 still active.

Across the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ COVID-19 data site Monday added 68 confirmed positives since Saturday: 17 in Houghton County, 14 in Gogebic County, nine in Marquette County, six in Dickinson County, five in Menominee County, four each in Delta and Alger counties, three each in Iron and Ontonagon counties, two in Chippewa County and one each in Keweenaw and Luce counties; Mackinac County’s count was reduced by one. Marquette County had the U.P.’s only new death.

In total for the U.P., the MDHHS data site Monday listed Keweenaw County at 96 confirmed cases and 20 probable, and one death and one probable death; Luce County, 129 confirmed cases and 70 probable; Schoolcraft County, 224 confirmed cases and 22 probable, four deaths and one probable; Alger County, 236 confirmed, 142 probable and one death, two probable; Mackinac County, 270 confirmed cases and 136 probable, three deaths; Ontonagon County, 291 confirmed, 30 probable and 15 deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 480 confirmed cases, 90 probable and 29 deaths; Chippewa County, 671 confirmed cases and 973 probable, and 16 deaths, two probable; Gogebic County, 787 confirmed cases and 303 probable, 16 confirmed deaths and 24 probable; Iron County, 827 confirmed cases and 63 probable, 32 confirmed deaths and five probable; Menominee County, 1,555 confirmed cases, 245 probable and 34 deaths, two probable; Houghton County, 1,873 confirmed cases, 453 probable, 27 confirmed deaths and seven probable; Dickinson County, 2,067 confirmed cases and 216 probable, 56 confirmed deaths and 14 probable; Delta County, 2,579 confirmed cases and 446 probable, 61 confirmed deaths and 18 probable; and Marquette County, 3,330 confirmed cases, 464 probable and 53 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Monday has had 15,415 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 348 deaths.

The MDHHS on Monday listed 2,843 confirmed new COVID-19 cases in Michigan since Saturday for a total of 538,377. The state added 20 new deaths Monday to reach 13,824.

For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state DHS’s COVID-19 data site Monday showed six new confirmed positives in Vilas County and four in Marinette County.

The DHS on Monday had Marinette County with 3,798 confirmed cases, 357 probable cases and 55 deaths; Vilas County, 1,812 confirmed, 94 probable and 31 deaths, two probable deaths; Forest County, 893 confirmed, 66 probable and 22 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 445 confirmed, 111 probable and 19 deaths, 17 probable; and Florence County, 412 confirmed, 33 probable and 12 deaths. As in Michigan, state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Wisconsin added 1,083 new positives Monday for a total of 522,877 confirmed COVID-19 cases. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services listed 19 deaths in the state Monday to reach 5,470.
