Dickinson prosecutor issues report for March

IRON MOUNTAIN — Dickinson County Prosecutor Lisa M. Richards has released her department’s activity report for March.

The office received 109 police reports from the five area law enforcement agencies and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

From those reports, the office authorized 25 felony and 46 misdemeanor warrants. There were 27 warrant requests reviewed and denied.

Warrants authorized included 12 for domestic violence or assault offenses, 23 for alcohol-related offenses, 13 for theft or property offenses, 13 for drug offenses, 18 for traffic offenses, one for carrying a concealed weapon, one for child abuse, one for tampering with evidence, one for self-defense spray violations, one for weapons violations and four for fugitive from justice.

The office also drafted and submitted one abuse and neglect petition and one juvenile delinquency petition to the probate court.

Throughout the month, the office had 21 preliminary examinations resulting in nine defendants being bound over to the circuit court for further proceedings, 11 circuit court sentencing hearings, 30 circuit court pre-trial conferences and 17 circuit court arraignments.

The office also conducted numerous bench trials, motion hearings, probation violation and show cause hearings in the district, probate and circuit courts.
