Prosecutor issues report for June

IRON MOUNTAIN — Dickinson County Prosecuting Attorney Lisa M. Richards has released her department’s activity report for June.

The office received 85 police reports from the five area law enforcement agencies and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

From those reports, the office authorized 15 felony and 41 misdemeanor warrants. There were 41 warrant requests reviewed and denied.

Warrants authorized included 11 for domestic violence or assault offenses, 17 for alcohol offenses, 13 for theft or property offenses, six for drug offenses, 18 for traffic offenses, one for indecent exposure, one for carrying a concealed weapon under the influence, one for animal cruelty, two for firearm possession under the influence, one for tampering with evidence and one for fugitive from justice.

The office also drafted and submitted two juvenile delinquency petitions to the probate court.

Throughout the month, the office had 19 preliminary examinations resulting in seven defendants being bound over to the circuit court for further proceedings, six circuit court sentencing hearings, 38 circuit court pre-trial conferences, 18 circuit court arraignments and two circuit court jury trials.

The office also conducted numerous bench trials, motion hearings, probation violation and show cause hearings in the district, probate and circuit courts.
