MARQUETTE — The Grand Marais Chamber of Commerce is hosting its 40th annual Music and Crafts Festival at the Community Center Ballfield this weekend.

The event features 11 bands, over 20 craft vendors and more.

“The woman that started it all, Susan Hicks will be coming,” said festival chair Aleta Hubbard. “She’ll be driving all the way up from Texas.”

Festival organizers will make a dedication to Hicks and a formal thank you during the event.

The festival starts at 5 p.m. Eastern time Thursday and runs until Saturday.

All activities Thursday are free.

Friday and Saturday events will require an entry fee.

The music lineup is as follows:

Thursday

8 to 11 p.m. — Iron Daisy

Friday

Noon to 1:30 p.m. — Derrell Syria Project

2 to 3:30 p.m. — Conga Se Menne

4 to 5:30 p.m. — Whiskey Ryan

6 to 7:30 p.m.– The Reveal

8 to 11 p.m. — DayDreamers

Saturday

Noon to 1:30 p.m.– Jake and the Fireside Band

2 to 3:30 p.m. — Soulshine

4 to 5:30 p.m. — Flat Broke Blues Band

6 to 7:30 p.m. — Tarnished

8 to11 p.m. — Kyle Jennings

Weekend passes for adults cost $55. Children ages 15 and under can get in free with a paid adult. Some campsites may still be available and permit purchase information can be found on the event website.
