No injuries in crash at Neu Cup

IRON MOUNTAIN — Despite one employee being inside the building, no one was injured when a truck lost control and struck the Neu Cup Coffee Shop on Friday.

At about 3:42 p.m. Friday a white Chevrolet pickup truck operated by a 17-year-old female was exiting Jackson Street on Stephenson Avenue when the driver lost control due to excessive speed, Director of Police and Fire Services Jeffery Solka said in a news release.

The pickup truck left the roadway and drove through the front of the building.

The one employee inside the coffee shop was temporarily trapped between the tables and wall but was not injured.

The operator of the was issued a citation for violation of the basic speed law and driving too fast for conditions, Solka said.

The Iron Mountain Police Department and Iron Mountain Fire Department responded to the site and were assisted by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department and Integrity Care EMS.
