Feeding America mobile pantry coming to Kingsford
KINGSFORD — Feeding America West Michigan is bringing a mobile food pantry Wednesday to Redemption Hill Church, 332 S. Carpenter Ave. in Kingsford.
Free food will be available to all households experiencing food insecurity.
This is a drive-thru setup, with food distribution beginning promptly at 10 a.m. and registration beginning no later than 9 a.m. Volunteers will register vehicles in line to receive food as well as answer any questions they may have.
A household is eligible if it receives food assistance — such as SNAP, WIC, SSI — and meets federal income guidelines or is simply in need of emergency food.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture recently adjusted the income ceiling for supplemental food programs to 300% of the Federal Poverty Line, meaning even more families and individuals will qualify to receive groceries.
The USDA and FAWM require for each household a full name, household size (number of children, seniors, veterans) and eligibility.
One vehicle may pick up groceries for up to three households when written permission in the form of a note is given by the household members not in attendance and the required registration information is included.
Restrooms are available inside the church.
Those with questions about the mobile food pantry or volunteering can text message or call 715-330-3553. Questions should not be directed to Redemption Hill Church.
Feeding America West Michigan is an equal opportunity provider.
