Brian Willman

CRYSTAL FALLS – Brian C. Willman, “Willy,” 56, of Crystal Falls, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at his home.

He was born on Nov. 15, 1959, in Crystal Falls, son of Muriel (Waldron) and the late Gordon Willman.

He attended school in Crystal Falls, graduating from Forest Park High School in 1977. He attended Michigan Technological University following graduation, and DeVry University, before enlisting in the United States Army.

After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, Willy returned to Crystal Falls and worked in mineral exploration for many years. He was a lifelong resident of Crystal Falls, however he enjoyed temporary residences in Wisconsin, Colorado and Jamaica.

He loved his time spent at the family camp enjoying the simplicity of life.

During his illness, he valued nothing more than hearing of the experiences of his classmates, community members, friends and families, as they lived their journey.

He was deeply thankful for his loyal canine best friend “Sid” and those that took the time to know him.

Brian is survived by his mother, Muriel Willman of Crystal Falls; brothers, Rob Willman and Gary (Brenda) Willman, both of Crystal Falls; a sister in-law, Karen Willman of Crystal Falls; and he is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Willman; and his brother, “Uncle” Jon Willman.

Visitation will be on Friday, July 29, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the United Lutheran Church in Crystal Falls.

The funeral service will follow Friday at 11 a.m. at the church. Rev. Micheal Laakko will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his memory.
