Robert G. Glass

NEENAH, Wis. — Robert G. Glass, 72, passed away suddenly, after a brief illness on Wednesday, March 1, 2017.

Bob was born on Jan. 19, 1945, in Kingsford, to the late Clifford and Bernice Glass. After Clifford passed away, Bernice married Joseph Menghini, who became Bob’s loving stepfather.

Bob married Elizabeth Hosking, his high school sweetheart, on Nov. 16, 1963, in Iron Mountain, and treasured their 53 years together.

Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1963 to 1967 while serving a portion of his service in the Philippines. He later went on to work for various companies in IT, ultimately retiring from Menasha Packaging. After retirement, Bob began a new career as the executive director of the Tri County Community Dental Clinic.

While he was there, he developed and implemented a program called Focus on Children, designed to provide access to quality dental care to children. He also drove a fundraising campaign and led new legislation allowing for a mobile dental clinic, the first of its kind in this area, to provide on-site dental care at schools.

Bob was a man who was devoted to his family, and especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He coached soccer in Neenah for many years while his kids were in school and afterwards as well.

Bob became an avid woodcarver, and particularly liked making walking sticks for friends. He also enjoyed hunting, being up north, helping anyone in need, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Glass; children, James (Gina-Lee) Glass and Traci (Jeffrey) Dalsin; grandchildren, Mackinnon and Flannery Twomey, Keeghan and Rory Miller, Zachary and Philomena Glass, and William and Evelyn Dalsin; sisters, Jeanne Ralston and Darlin (Raymond) Verley; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Glass and Mary Lou (Patrick) Campbell; brother-in-law, Richard Hosking; other relatives, and many friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his son, Robert J. Glass; his parents and stepfather; brother, Ronald Glass; mother-in-law, Evelyn Hosking; father-in-law, Richard Hosking; and brother-in-law, William Hosking.

The funeral Mass for Bob will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, at St. Gabriel Parish, 900 Geiger St., Neenah with Rev. Larry Seidl officiating.

Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated to the Tri County Community Dental Clinic or the Salvation Army in Bob’s loving memory.
