Arthur Dahl

KINGSFORD — Arthur H. Dahl, 92, of Kingsford, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2017, at Freeman Health and Rehabilitation Community in Kingsford.

He was born on May 9, 1925, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Henry and Ida (Fredrickson) Dahl.

Art joined the United States Navy During World War II and served from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946. He worked as a semi truck driver for many years at Clairmont Transfer.

He married Helen Olson Couvillion on Jan. 2, 1988, and they enjoyed 22 years together before Helen passed away on Sept. 12, 2010.

Art was a member of First Covenant Church and played the mandolin for the singing strings of First Covenant. He was a very talented handyman and enjoyed building just about anything. He shared his talents with friends and neighbors who he helped build and fix things.

Art also enjoyed woodworking, hunting and spending time at his camp.

Art is survived by his daughters, Marie Hess of Kingsford and Joanne (Richard) Larson of Beloit, Wis.; stepchildren, Terry, Michael (Linda) and Christi Couvillion and Louise (Gene) Troyer; four grandchildren, Mike (Mel) Hess of Green Bay, Wis., Kerry (Jeff) Hess of Alston, Danielle (Jim) Fritz of Seattle, and Angela Larson of Beloit; five great-grandchildren, Samantha, Sabrina, Alex, Chris and Jeffrey. Also by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Helen, Art was preceded in death by his brothers, Alfred, Rudolph, Milton and Vernon Dahl; and his sister, Hilda Prehode.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 7, from 11 a.m. to noon at the First Covenant Church in Iron Mountain.

Funeral services will follow Wednesday at noon at the church. Larry Neargarth will officiate.

Burial will be held at Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.

The family would like to thank the staff at Freeman Health and Rehabilitation Community for their loving care and kindness while Art was living there.
