GERALD POZZA

IRON MOUNTAIN — Gerald Lee “Jerry” Pozza, 67, of Iron Mountain passed away suddenly at his home.

He was preceded in death by his parents Henry G. Pozza Sr. and Edna (Warner) Pozza; brothers Lt. Col. Jack Pozza, Henry “Chi Chi” Pozza Jr.; and sister Marilyn Balzarini.

A lifelong native of Iron Mountain, Jerry was born in 1950, attending local schools and graduating with the IMHS class of 1968. He attended Northern Michigan University and was a member of the golf team.

A Vietnam era veteran, Jerry served in the United States Air Force at bases in Illinois and California.

After his service he was employed at various companies. He always said his claim to fame was being the first person hired at K-Mart when the store was on Carpenter Ave. in Kingsford. He also worked at the Commercial National Bank, Dairy Queen in Kingsford and was currently employed at Wal-Mart for the last 22 years.

A big Los Angeles Dodgers fan, he was very well liked and always had a kind word for everyone. Jerry has many wonderful friends he enjoyed getting together with throughout his lifetime and who will miss him greatly.

He is survived by two sisters-in-law, Jeanette Pozza and Rita Pozza, numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. He also leaves behind his cat Rusty, a faithful companion who is currently staying at the local animal shelter and is seeking a loving home.

A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held this spring, with an announcement forthcoming.

Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice or to the Iron Mountain High School general scholarship fund in his name.

The family has entrusted the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Iron Mountain with the arrangements.

Godspeed Jerry Lee.
