IRON MOUNTAIN — Jacob Allen Weslin, 21, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2018, in Marquette County.

He was born on Dec. 14, 1996, in Iron Mountain, son of Michael Weslin and Kim (Bracket) Mitchell. He graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 2015, and from Northern Michigan University with an associate degree in criminal justice. He was waiting to leave on May 1 to fulfill his dream of serving his country with the Special Ops of the U.S. Air Force Combat Control, a great accomplishment he had worked very hard to achieve.

He enjoyed working out. He also enjoyed being outdoors hiking, hunting and fishing. Jacob also always loved a good plate of food.

Jake is survived by his father, Michael (Ashley Calkins) Weslin of Iron Mountain, his mother, Kim (Jim) Mitchell of Iron Mountain; sisters, Alli and Jojo Weslin, and Nikki Mitchell, all of Iron Mountain; brothers, Brandon and Austin Mitchell, both of Iron Mountain; maternal grandparents, James Bracket of Caspian and Theresa (Paul) Belmas of Ironwood; paternal grandfather, Allen Weslin of Iron River; grandparents, Jim (Mary) Mitchell of Champion and Norm Calkins of Kingsford; aunts and uncles, Scott (Nikki) Weslin of Iron River, Julie (Rochelle) Weslin of Denver, Bruce (Marsha) Torretti of Iron Mountain, Julie Bracket of Superior, Wis., Paul (Michelle) Bracket of Gladstone, Stacy (Greg) Leonarduzzi of Iron River, Chris (Amy) Bracket of Kingsford, Jenn Brennan of Chicago, Michelle Mitchell of New York, and Jessica (Keith) Gering of Green Bay. He is further survived by the Love of his life and his soul mate, Callie Heller of Escanaba; and many cousins.

He was excited to become an uncle and Godfather to Baby Mitchell.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Candace Weslin; his step-grandmother, Kathy Calkins; and his furry friend, Maximus Von Copenhagen Weslin.

Visitation will be 10 a.m to 2 p.m. Thursday at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Kevin Sullivan will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his memory.
