CRYSTAL FALLS — James R. “Jim” Anderson, 86, of 398 Lind Road., Crystal Falls, went home to his Lord and Savior Jesus, on Thursday, March 8, 2018, at Aspirus Iron River Hospital.

He was born on July 29, 1931, in Richmond, Ind., son of the late Albert R. and Mary (Groop) Anderson. He moved to the area as a teenager, attending school in Alpha and graduating from Alpha High School in 1949.

He married Beverly Stalter in Alpha on Dec. 24, 1949, and they spent nearly 69 wonderful years together.

Jim spent many nights studying college courses and could engineer anything accurately. He was the owner/operator of R.J. Metal for many years and loved designing and building. He was a second-generation member of the United Lutheran Church. In his free time he loved to go camping and hunting. As the days have passed since his death, the family has heard from many family and friends that he was ” a good man and very honorable.” He taught many young people his trade.

He was preceded in death by his sons, James R. Anderson Jr. in 1973 and Robert A. Anderson in 2017; a sister, Mildred Riggs; a brother, Roy A. Anderson; his great-grandson, Anderson James Patel in 2017.

James is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Anderson of Crystal Falls; his children, Carla (Keith) Swanson of Niagara, Wis., Fred (Becky) Anderson of Ishpeming, Ken (Lynn) Anderson of Vancouver, Wash., Patrick Anderson of Crystal Falls, and Thomas (Theresa) Anderson of Lebanon, Ohio; grandchildren, Jimmy, David (Noel), LeRoy, Jennifer (H), Melissa (Kris), Sandy (Shawn), Michelle (Daniel), Jill (Ben), and Christopher (Katie); 17-1/2 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Jane (Walter) Post of Spring, Texas; sister-in-law, Carol Anderson of Pennsylvania. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 17 at the United Lutheran Church in Crystal Falls. The funeral service will follow at noon at the church. Rev. Micheal Laakko will officiate.

Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Crystal Falls.

Jim’s grandsons H Patel, Kris Kauppi, Jake Sikora, Daniel Grover, Chris Anderson, and Ben Mattson will serve as pallbearers.
