DEPERE, Wis. — John “Mike” Thomas Tobin, 78, of De Pere, passed away March 10, 2018.

He was born May 13, 1939, to John “Jack” and Rose (Shay) Tobin in Channing.

Toby attended Channing High School and was an engineer for the Milwaukee Road Soo Line for 40 years. He served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1968.

John was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed golf and traveling with friends to baseball games and sports in general. He was an avid sports fan and got to see his beloved Cubs win the World Series.

He is survived by his sister, Carol Fontana; two nieces, Paula Cambray and Mary Jane Smith; two nephews, Mark (Bonnie) Cambray and Pat (Sandy) Cuculi.

John is further survived by his great-nieces and -nephews, Shannon Smith, Marc Smith, Michelle (Mike) Pfannenstiel, Mike (Nancy) Cuculi, Jordan Calewarts, Megan Schmitz, Nicholas Schmitz, Meredith Carey and Adam (Rachel) Cambray. He is even further survived by a special cousin, Jeri Lynn Pack.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Rose and Jack; two sisters, Mary Alice Cuculi and Joan Probst; and one brother, William “Billy” Tobin.

Family and friends will gather from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 17 for a celebration of life at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N. Tenth St., DePere.

Full military honors will follow.
