Patricia M. (Backlund) Hanson

NORWAY — Patricia M. (Backlund) Hanson, 77, of Norway, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on Friday, March 16, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, Wis., after a long battle with cancer and kidney disease.

She was born on Nov. 25, 1940, in Norway, the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Backlund.

She married Robert Hanson of Iron Mountain on Aug. 10, 1957, in Norway. The family moved to Chicago in 1965 for their careers and to raise their four daughters.

After the death of her husband, Patricia retired and moved back home to Norway in May 1998. Her favorite time of year was summer and she enjoyed sitting out on her sunny deck to have coffee and watch her great-grandchildren play in the yard or splash in the pool.

Patricia is survived by her daughters, Mary (Joe) Finnegan of Lake in the Hills, Ill., Lori Smith and Robbi (John) Langer of Norway; and son-in-law, Arnold Rose of Chicago; brother, Terry (Kay) Backlund of Vulcan; sisters, Carole (Richard) Welch and Mary Kay (Fritz) Ehrhardt of Hamilton Lakes; grandchildren, Jason (Caitlin) Rose, Joshua Rose, Ryan (Jessica) Finnegan, Kyle (Jennifer) Finnegan, Michael (Andreanna) Smith, Sarah (Casey) Wyle, Brittany (Michael) Langer and Alec Langer; great-grandchildren, Shayne, Braydon and Jackson Finnegan, Alice and Charlotte Rose, Jacob Treiber Jr., Ryder Wyle, Ayden and Brielle LaFave, and baby girl Wyle due in June 2018; sisters-in-law, Faye LaVarnway, Jean Hinz, Sharon Toth; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary (Peripoli) and Robert A. Backlund; her husband and love of her life, Robert R. Hanson; her daughter, Patti Rose; her mother and father-in-law, Loretta (Stoikes) and Ragner Hanson; sisters-in-law, Sr. Loretta Jean Hanson, Belva Hanson and Colleen Schmitt; brothers-in-law, John Schmitt, James LaVarnway and Tom Him.

Services will be held at a later date.
