William L. Curtis

CRYSTAL FALLS — William L. Curtis, 64, of Crystal Falls, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Bill was born on Sept. 5, 1953, in Stambaugh, the son of the late William and Janet (Lundwall) Curtis. He was raised in Bates and was a 1972 graduate of West Iron High School.

He went on to earn his associate degree in forestry from Michigan Technological University. Bill continued his education at Northern Michigan University where he received his Meat Cutters Certification.

He married Charlene Tuchowski on Aug. 2, 1975, at Guardian Angels Church. Char and Bill started their family and spent 11 years in Florida before returning to this area in 1999. He worked for several years as the butcher at Angeli’s Market in Iron River.

Bill loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was a gardening enthusiast. His whole life revolved around taking care of his family.

He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, June Tuchowski.

Bill is survived by his wife Charlene; sons, Nicholas (Jennifer) Curtis and Justin (Heidi) Curtis, both of Crystal Falls; sisters, Carol (Gary) Dinco of Colebrook, N.H., Ruthann (Carol) Holm of Marquette and Susan (Pierre) Delago of Afton, Minn.; eight grandchildren, Jon, Makayla, Dylan, Vincent, Will, Shealyn, Sophia and Eliza; father-in-law, Walter Tuchowski of Crystal Falls; sister-in-law, Fortune Tuchowski of Crystal Falls; and brother-in-law, Mel (Michelle) Tuchowski of Kingsford.

He is also survived by three special friends, Mike and Bobby Willis, and Bob Adams.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at a later date.
