IRON MOUNTAIN — Brian James Peterson, 65, of Iron Mountain, passed away early Tuesday morning, April 10, 2018, at his home.

He was born on June 22, 1952, to Dwyne J. and Geraldine G. (Beauchamp) Peterson. Brian graduated from Escanaba High School. After, he served in the U.S. Army and Army National Guard of Michigan during Vietnam from 1971 until his honorable discharge in 1977. He earned a National Defense Service Medal and Sharpshooter.

He was an avid Detroit Tigers and Green Bay Packers fan, loved to do yard work, and enjoyed watching Westerns. Brian was a devoted father who took pride in giving the time to be there for his children and grandchildren.

Among survivors include his son, Dwayne (Stacey) Peterson of Kingsford; life partner Susie Maracini-Conery of Iron Mountain; grandchildren, Brayden, Brody and Elli Peterson; siblings, Dawn (Doug) Schmidt, Michael Peterson, Lori Peterson, Mark (Karen) Peterson, Gayle (David) Boch, Marcia Holmes (Randy Stone) and Paula Peterson (Tom Meunier); nieces and nephews, Jeff Latsch, Brendan Peterson, Brianna Peterson, Brad Holmes, Joseph Boch and Trevor Boch.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dwyne and Geraldine Peterson; daughter, Kristen Lessor; niece, Dana Latsch; and nephew, Robert Waldecker III.

Even though his illness was brief, and he was taken all too soon, the family will continue to celebrate the years and memories they shared with Brian.

A gathering of friends and family to celebrate the life of Brian will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Eastern time Sunday, April 15 at the Crawford Funeral Home: 302 S. 13th St., Escanaba. Military rites will be at 4 p.m., with the Delta Veterans Council and the U.P. Military Honor Guard Team.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Brian’s son, Dwayne Peterson.
