Joanne M. Johnson

IRON MOUNTAIN — Joanne M. Johnson, of Kingsford, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain.

She was born in Kingsford, daughter of the late Arthur and Ruth (Behrens) DeFiore. Joanne was a lifelong resident of Kingsford and attended Iron Mountain High School until her senior year.

She graduated from Kingsford High School. On April 24, 1954, she was united in marriage to Donald W. Johnson. Joanne worked for the Dickinson County Courthouse as treasurer for many years until her retirement.

She was a member of American Martyrs Catholic Church. Joanne enjoyed bowling and was on a league for over 35 years. She also enjoyed fishing and knitting.

Joanne was a wonderful cook and was known for having the best ravioli anyone ever wanted to eat. She founded the Iron Mountain-Kingsford Humane Society.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Donald; one daughter, Donna Hebel of Green Bay, Wis.; one brother, John “Jack” DeFiore, Satellite Beach, Fla.; one sister, Dorthy “Dot” (Durl) Bradley, Iron Mountain; sister-in-law, Lori DeFiore; two grandchildren, Sean (Heather) Hebel and Katy Jo (Ben) LaMay; two great-grandchildren, Mara Hebel and Parker LaMay; and by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by one brother, Mike DeFiore.

Visitation will be 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2018 at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain.

Prayer will be held at the funeral home at 10:45 a.m.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. Rev. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate.

Burial will take place in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain.
