IRON MOUNTAIN — James A. Patterson, 51, of Iron Mountain, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018, unexpectedly at his home.

He was born Jan. 25, 1967, in Illinois, son of the late Richard and Jeanette (Tomassoni) Patterson. Jim was a lifelong resident of the area and a 1985 graduate of Iron Mountain High School. After high school he proudly served in the United States Army and upon his honorable discharge returned to Iron Mountain.

Jim enjoyed the outdoors, feeding birds, gardening and working around the yard. He was a devoted Chicago Cubs and Detroit Lions fan.

Survivors include one son, Kyle Patterson of North Carolina; two brothers, Richard Patterson Jr. and Michael (Geri) Patterson, both of Iron Mountain; three sisters, Marilyn (Brian) Shaw of Virginia, Ruth Phillips and Patti (Jim) Menza, both of Iron Mountain; two grandchildren, Ashton and Ember; and by many nieces and nephews.

Private family visitation and a celebration of Jim’s life will be held at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.

Burial will be in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain.

Rev. Paul Strom of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Iron Mountain, will officiate.
