BARK RIVER — Joyce A. Wolf, 80, of Bark River, passed away peacefully in the morning hours of Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, at Northwoods Place in Escanaba.

Born in Escanaba on Dec. 14, 1937, Joyce was the daughter of Emil and Ann (Karabon) Skradski.

She attended nursing school at age 18 in Rockford, Ill., and eventually graduated from Bay de Noc Community College with an Associate Degree in Nursing. Joyce worked as a Registered Nurse at hospitals and nursing homes for more than 40 years. She especially enjoyed volunteering at Perspective Adult Day Care and caring for the elderly.

In addition to nursing, Joyce enjoyed cooking and canning foods from her husband’s garden. She liked historical books and biographies of movie stars from the 40’s and 50’s. Her favorite hobby was reading. She enjoyed collecting and watching the movie “Gone with the Wind,” and loved to study the author and actors involved in that picture.

Joyce was united in marriage to Victor T. Wolf, on Sept. 15, 1956, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Escanaba. The couple resided in Milwaukee and St. Paul, Minn., before moving to Bark River in 1966 where they made their home and raised their children. Joyce and Victor spent more than 60 wonderful years together.

Joyce is survived by her loving husband, Victor; children: Timothy (Diane) Wolf of Little Elm, Texas, Ted Wolf of Iron Mountain, Paul (Tami) Wolf of Bark River, Phillip (Kristi) Wolf of Kinross; her sister: Donna Blair of Alaska.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Joyce’s parents, six brothers and sisters and her daughter-in-law, Lori Wolf, preceded her in death.

A memorial Mass to honor the life of Joyce A. Wolf will be at 1 p.m. Eastern time Friday, May 4 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Bark River, with Rev. Fr. Darryl Pepin officiating.

Joyce will be laid to rest in the Rapid River Cemetery following mass.

The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be directed to Perspective Adult Day Care. Envelopes will be available during mass and at the funeral home.
