AURORA, Wis. — Leslie W. “Peeler” Marble, 87, of Aurora, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2018, at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain.

He was born on Dec. 25, 1930, in Kingsford, son of the late Merrill and Esther (Wirtz) Marble. Peeler attended and graduated from Kingsford High School, Class of 1948. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 until 1959. Peeler married Carol Barnard on June 30, 1962, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Aurora. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk for 20 years before retiring. Peeler was a member of American Martyrs Catholic Church, Kingsford. He was a talented woodworker and enjoyed making toys, trucks and cars. Peeler also enjoyed doing yard work. He will be remembered by his family and many friends as a character with a great sense of humor.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Carol; five children, Michael (Gary) Marble of Minnesota, Elizabeth “Liz” (Jason) Koller of Kingsford, Steven (Linda) Marble of Georgia, Patrick (Jill) Marble of Colorado, Christopher (Darci) Marble of Minnesota; one brother, James (Carolyn) Marble of Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Josh, Brianne, Victoria, Sarah, Maria, Jacob and Claire; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Peeler was preceded in death by two brothers, Arnold “Arnie” Marble and Merrill “Sonny” Marble; and two sisters, Helen Blank and Fay Marble.

Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 13 at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. The funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Rev. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate.

Burial will be at 9 a.m. Thursday, June 14 at the Aurora-Homestead Cemetery. The Uren Cooper Johnson American Legion Post 50, Iron Mountain, will accord military honors at graveside.
