Lola J. Dixon

Lola was born on June 11, 1954, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Walter and Georgina “Jane” (Carlson) Raether. She was a resident of this area for her entire life and was a 1972 graduate of North Dickinson High School.

Lola married Darwin Dixon on May 19, 1973, at St. Joseph Church in Foster City. She worked as the payroll clerk for Systems Control for more than 25 years. Lola was a member of St. Joseph Church in Foster City and the Eastern Dickinson County Sportsmans Club. She enjoyed hunting, loved to camp and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan.

She is survived by her husband, Darwin; sons, Trevor (Katie) Dixon of Hardwood and Dustin Dixon of Iron Mountain; brothers, Gary (Lorraine) Raether of Iron Mountain and Guy (Kathy) Raether of Foster City; sisters, Lois (Gary) Sturm of Kingsford and Linda Raether of Felch.

She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law; close friends; and her best friend and brother-in-law, Todd Dixon.

She loved her dog, Zumaya, and her grandpuppies, Wrigley and Hercules.

Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, June 14 at St. Joseph Church in Foster City.

Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Fr. Timothy Ekaitis will offer the Mass of Christian Burial.

Burial will be in the Felch Cemetery.
