CRYSTAL FALLS — Dorothy A. Kubicsko, 96, of Crystal Falls, passed away Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls.

Dorothy was born Nov. 1, 1921, in Amasa, daughter of the late Andrew and Margaret (Kassa) Alexa. She attended school in Amasa.

Dorothy moved to Chicago, where she worked as a house maid. She was married to Albert Kubicsko in Chicago in 1942. He preceded her in death on July 4, 1983. Dorothy returned home to Crystal Falls during the war years while her husband served in the United States Navy. Following the war, Albert joined her to raise their family. She worked at the Ben Franklin store in Crystal Falls for over 12 years.

Dorothy was a member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading, painting, knitting, crocheting, golfing and crafts — including making pine cone wreaths. She was a very good cook. Dorothy loved her Southern Comfort Old Fashioned’s.

Survivors include three daughters, Beverly (Daniel) Ehnis of Vulcan, Margaret (Paul) Palo and Deborah (Bob) Sherwin, both of Crystal Falls; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Esther Majkowski of Chicago.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Albert, Dorothy was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Phillip; one sister, Leona Toon; and by her two beloved Pomeranian dogs Vicky and Buddy.

A Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Crystal Falls.

Rev. Fr. Dan Malone will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls.

Per Dorothy’s wishes there will be no visitation prior to the Mass.
