Susan E. (Leppiaho) Halls

CRYSTAL FALLS — Susan E. “Ailie” (Leppiaho) Halls, 95, of Crystal Falls, passed away Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018, at Christian Park Health Care Center, Escanaba.

She was born June 25, 1923, in Crystal Falls, daughter of the late John and Hilma (Norback) Leppiaho. Ailie spent most of her life in Chicago, retiring to Hot Springs, Ark. She moved back to Crystal Falls in 2005.

Survivors include one son, Bernard J. Halls of Michigan; two daughters, Rhonda (John) Scheiderich of Minnesota and Roxanne Halls of Crystal Falls; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Ailie was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Halls; and 13 siblings.

Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1 at United Lutheran Church in Crystal Falls. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Pastor Avery Carr will officiate.

Burial will take place in Diamond Lake Cemetery, Mundelein, Ill.

Memorials to the Northwoods Animal Shelter in Ailie’s memory have been suggested.
