CRYSTAL FALLS — Gene A. Gasparas, 72, of Crystal Falls, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018, at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain. Gene was born Sept. 21, 1945 in Chicago, to the late George and Marie (Marek) Gasparas. He married Donna Engelhardt at St. John in Florence, Wis., and was a devoted husband. Gene was the former owner of The Four Seasons Motel in Crystal Falls and a loving father to three children. He had a passion for traveling and working on cars, especially Chryslers. He loved to be outdoors camping or fishing and spending time with his family and his dog. Gene was proud of his service in the United States Army. He served during the Vietnam era. He was a past Post Commander and was a member of the Honor Guard at the American Legion Post 687 in Stickney, Ill.

Gene is survived by his wife, Donna; son, Nick; two daughters, Victoria (Al) Bower and Dana (Victor) Rodriguez; one brother, Gerald (Bobbie) Gasparas; grandchildren, Robert, Samuel, Alexis, Marissa, Justin, and Charlie, and several cousins.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, George and Marie Gasparas; and one daughter-in-law, Melanie Gasparas.

Visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16 at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. A service will follow at 3 p.m.

Chaplain Herbert Becker will officiate.
