Raymond Alleva

KINGSFORD — Raymond Alleva, 83, of Kingsford, passed away on Monday, Sept. 17, 2018, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls.

Raymond was born on March 2, 1935, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Anthony and Edith (Wright) Alleva. He grew up in Iron Mountain and graduated from Iron Mountain High School. In 1953 Raymond joined the United States Army where he proudly defended his country in the Korean War. Raymond married Jean Barkle and they shared a devoted marriage together for 56 years and raised two children in Kingsford. Raymond worked at Norway Gravier as a pressman for 40 years before retiring.

Hobbies that brought him great joy included woodworking, boating and flying remote control airplanes.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; two children, Bonnie Johnson of Iron Mountain and Brenda Deau of Kingsford; three brothers, Marvin (Margie) Alleva, Arthur “Art” (Jill) Alleva, both of whom reside in Iron Mountain, and Anthony “Tony” Alleva of Norway; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Ray was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Alleva.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Kingsford Funeral Home.

Rev. Tracy Blagec will officiate.

The Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 will conduct military honors prior to the service.
