Joan V. Dzekute

IRON MOUNTAIN — Joan V. Dzekute, 83, of Green Bay, Wis., formerly of Armstrong Creek, Wis., passed away Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018, at Crossroads West in Green Bay.

She was born March 17, 1935, in Armstrong Creek, daughter of the late Walter and Eleanor (Poplonski) Frydrych.

Joan married Walter Dzekute on April 7, 1956, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church in Armstrong Creek.

He preceded her in death on June 7, 2004. After being married they resided in Lombard, Ill., Naperville, Ill. and Green Bay, before retiring to Kingsford in 1994.

Joan enjoyed spending time with family and friends, as well as many hobbies, including crocheting, crafts, and growing plants and flowers.

Survivors include three sons, Brian (Julie) Dzekute of Woodbury, Minn., Terry Dzekute of Fond du Lac, Wis., and Scott (Amy) Dzekute of Madison, Wis.; one daughter, Maxine Solboe of De Pere, Wis.; seven grandchildren, Jonathen, Katherine, Jennifer, Craig, Kimberly, Christopher and Ian.; eight great-grandchildren; four brothers, Richard (Janice) Frydrych of Armstrong Creek, Carl (Chris) Frydrych of Armstrong Creek, Tom Frydrych of Florence, Wis., and Michael Frydrych of Armstrong Creek; three sisters, Mary Ann (Bob) Dzekute of Oak Creek, Wis., Fran (Jerry) Fatla of Clarendon Hills, Ill., Diane (Tom) Kukowski of Wisconsin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Walter, Joan was preceded in death by one brother, Frank Frydrych; and two sisters, Lillian Mahowski and Carol Steihm.

Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24 at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Rev. Fr. Ray Valerio will officiate.

Burial will be in Fence Cemetery in Fence, Wis. in the spring.
