Susan E. Larson

Susan was born on Feb. 18, 1947, in Ishpeming, daughter of the late Lyle and Marjorie (Johnson) Curran. She had been a resident of this area for most of her life and was a 1965 graduate of Kingsford High School. After graduating from high school, Susan attended Northern Michigan University.

On Dec. 18, 1993, Susan married the love of her life, Wayne Larson.

Susan worked in the pre-school program at Iron Mountain-Kingsford Community Schools for over 30 years. She was known to many as “Miss Sue” and impacted many children’s lives.

Susan loved to cook and enjoyed sewing and crafting. She was an avid gardener and took great pride in the beautiful flowers around her home. Susan also enjoyed traveling and went on many adventures with her sisters. She especially loved hosting family holiday gatherings and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Family was everything to her.

Susan is survived by her husband, Wayne; children, Eric Laitila of Kingsford and Amy (Dylan) Geronimi of Kingsford; her brother and sisters, Timothy (Sandra) Curran of Iron Mountain, Robert (Joan) Curran of Wausau, Wis., Marjorie (James) Blignaut of Kingsford, Kim (Scott) Thiry of Iron Mountain, Kelly (Sherry) Curran of Appleton, Wis., and Kristen (Tami) Curran of Mt. Sydney, Va.; grandchildren, Zoie, Evan and Ayden Geronimi; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and Dan Curran; and a sister, Mary Schinderle.

A celebration of Susan’s life will be held 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27 at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.
