IRON MOUNTAIN — Glenn J. Butterfield, 82, of Iron Mountain, passed away peacefully on Jan. 7, 2019, at his home.

Glenn was born on Jan. 5, 1937, in Niagara, Wis., son of the late Clarence and Claire (Kallenbach) Butterfield.

Glenn was a resident of this area for most of his life and attended Kingsford Schools. He married Arlene Pillion on Feb. 23, 1957, at St. Mary and St. Joseph Church in Iron Mountain.

Glenn began working at an early age and operated Butterfield Construction Co. for over 40 years. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Glenn was a talented self-taught follower of Bob Ross painting. He was also a wonderful storyteller and enjoyed trips to the casino and an occasional VO and Coke.

Glenn is survived by his wife of 61 years, Arlene; children, Scott (Julie) Butterfield of Kingsford and Linda LaPlante of Norway; his brother, Bill (Nancy) Butterfield of Niagara; sister, Juanita Sparks of Niagara; grandchildren, Kelly (Steve Hilsabeck) Butterfield, Jared Butterfield and Brandon Butterfield; great-grandchildren, Jace and Braylon; and several nieces and nephews.

Glenn was preceded in death by his grandson, Alan LaPlante; son-in-law, Dana LaPlante; brother, Ernest Butterfield; and a brother-in-law, Bob Sparks.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11 at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.

A celebration of life service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.
