Verna L. Weber

CHANNING — Verna L. Weber, 78, of Channing, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls.

She was born Aug. 5, 1940, in DeKalb, Ill., daughter of the late James and Mildred (Rittmeyer) Knight. Verna graduated from Berlin High School in Berlin, Wis., in 1958 and then attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, where she earned a business degree. She worked as a certified nurses aide from 1956 to 1990, many of those years at Hyland Nursing Home in Iron Mountain. On Nov. 17, 2004, Verna married Karl Weber.

She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Sagola. She enjoyed playing piano, writing, sewing, drawing and fishing. Verna spent countless hours reading the Bible and lived God’s word by example in her daily life. She was a very loving and charismatic person who will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Verna is survived by her husband, Karl; a son, Dennis J. Beurjey; three daughters, Jody (John) Kwetkowski, Julie DeGroot and Wendy (Tom) Fellner; a sister, Ruth O’Brien; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Darrell D. Beurjey; and a brother, Marvin J. Knight.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Jan. 4 at Grace Presbyterian Church in Sagola. Funeral services will follow at noon at the church. Pastor James Janofski will officiate. Burial will be in the Channing Cemetery in the spring.
