Shirley A. Bellin

QUINNESEC — Shirley A. Bellin, 85, of Quinnesec, was called to eternal life on Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, at Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls.

She was born Oct. 10, 1933, in Gladstone, daughter of the late George and Aurora (LaPointe) Bedard. Shirley graduated from Vulcan High School in 1951 and was a lifelong resident of the area. She married James R. Bellin on Oct. 26, 1957. He preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 1959, on his way to the hospital to see his newborn daughter. Shirley was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Quinnesec, where she was the secretary until the church closed. She then was a member of American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford until she was no longer able to attend mass.

Shirley enjoyed reading and spending time with her family, especially around the holidays.

She is survived by her son, Rick Bellin; and her daughter, Sherry (Jim) Nelson, both of Quinnesec; one granddaughter, Jamie Nelson-Meyers of Norway; and one great-granddaughter, Chloe Meyers, who were the pride and joy of her life; sisters-in-law, Barbara Bedard and Karen (Gordon) Treiber; a brother-in-law, Joseph Bal; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by three brothers, George, Edsel and Richard Bedard; a special uncle, Bernard “Buzzy” LaPointe; her mother and father-in-law; and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Visitation will be 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.

A memorial mass will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Joseph Gouin will officiate. Burial will be in the Quinnesec Cemetery.
