CRYSTAL FALLS — Joan Jarvis, 86, of Crystal Falls, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls.

Joan was born July 2, 1932, in Farmington, N.M., daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Davies) Ferrick. She was raised in Farmington and graduated from high school there. It is also where she met Edwin Jarvis. After a brief courtship, Ed and Joan were married on March 31, 1954, in Farmington. Shortly after their marriage, the couple moved to Crystal Falls to help run the family farm. Joan and Ed worked together operating the potato farm for more than 40 years. They retired from farming in 1991.

She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Amasa. Joan was a hard worker and she and Ed were always a team. They enjoyed being outdoors, especially snowmobiling and cross country skiing. Joan also enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, She was also an avid reader.

Joan was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald and John Ferrick.

She is survived by her husband, Edwin; sisters, Betty Ferrick and Carole Gabel of Farmington; and by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, March 29 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Amasa. Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Rev. Dave Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Crystal Falls.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory.
