Betty Jean Ring

Betty was born Dec. 31, 1926, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late William and Mary (Beitel) Howart. She was a lifelong resident of Iron Mountain and graduated from Iron Mountain High School.

On May 8, 1948, Betty married Donald Ring at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Donald preceded her in death on June 21, 2009.

Betty worked as a secretary for ManorCare Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kingsford, and later retired from First National Bank, Iron Mountain.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Iron Mountain.

Betty enjoyed wintering in Florida and going to the casino. She loved her family and especially the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Betty is survived by two sons, Richard L. (Caryl) Ring and Don H. (Carrie) Ring, both of Iron Mountain; one sister, Jeanette Butman of Marinette, Wis.; five grandchildren, Scott (Angela) Ring, Susan (Rob) LaCrosse, Sarah (Ryan) Sullivan, Nicole (Michael) Connors and Michael Ring; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 9 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday, May 23 at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. Prayers will be recited at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

A Memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will officiate.

Burial will be in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain.
