AURORA, Wis. — Doris Laverne Van Haute, 95, of Aurora, died peacefully on July 20, 2019, at Freeman Long Term Care & Rehabilitation Center in Iron Mountain.

Born in Homestead, Wis., to the late Charles and Ellen Anderson on July 11, 1924, she attended Brown School and graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1942. She married Raymond Van Haute on Sept. 4, 1948.

Early in her married life, Doris was a homemaker. She later worked at Midland Co-op in Aurora and was active in her church and community.

Upon retirement, Doris volunteered extensively at ManorCare in Iron Mountain and was named Outstanding Volunteer in recognition of her 25 years of service.

Doris was a remarkable cook and baker who loved preparing meals for family and friends. She was kind and generous, welcoming numerous guests to her home over the years.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Raymond Van Haute; her siblings, Everett, Olive, Francis and Eva Anderson, and Olive Richard; and a son-in-law, Robert Holton.

She is survived by three children, Donna (Bruce) Walstrom of Aurora; Allen (Mary) Van Haute of Clearwater, Fla.; and Marlene (Larry) Ethier of Sheridan, Wyo.

She is also survived by six grandchildren, Paul (Roxanne) Holton of Homestead; Tracie Watts of Kingsford; Amanda (Doug) Slagle and Allison (Mark) Campbell of San Antonio; Kathryn (Matt) Clinton of Mandan, N.D., and Andrew (Danae) Ethier of Lincoln, N.D.; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Doris touched the hearts of many people, and those who cared for her did the same. The family is forever grateful for the compassionate care she received.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 27 at First Lutheran Church: 1210 S. Stephenson Ave., Iron Mountain.

Funeral services will follow at noon on Saturday at the church. Rev. Keith Swanson will officiate.
