Dorothy Johnson

Dorothy was born Sept. 23, 1921, in Metropolitan, daughter of the late Jacob and Ida (Seelund) Blomquist. She graduated from Felch High School in 1939 and was a lifelong resident of the area.

Dorothy married Alfred Johnson on Oct. 12, 1940, in Felch, and he preceded her in death in January 1990.

She was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Metropolitan and was very active in the church and the Felch/Foster City community. Dorothy was also a former member of Mission Covenant Church in Foster City.

She served as Breen Township Treasurer for many years.

You could say that Dorothy loved life, church, family, music and learning. At age 73, she graduated from Bay College in Escanaba.

Dorothy is survived by three sons, Dennis Johnson of Felch, Harold (DiAnne) Johnson of Foster City and Daniel (Mavis) Johnson of Foster City; two daughters, Carol (Phillip) Grieg of Iron River and Evelyn LaCourt of Foster City; and by 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death her husband, Alfred; four sisters; one brother; and one son-in-law, James LaCourt.

She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Brandon Johnson; and one granddaughter, Ginger Lautzenheiser.

Visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 6, at Zion Lutheran Church, W4703 Metropolitan Road in Felch.

A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. at the church. Rev. Lori Liverance will officiate.

Burial will be in the Foster City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church.
