RHONDA ROSE OLSON YANO

December 24, 1965 – May 7, 2019

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend.

Rhonda went home to be with her Lord on May 7, 2019, in Hattiesburg. She was surrounded by her loving family and was only 53 years old. She will be deeply missed by those who were touched by her life.

Rhonda was adopted by James E. and Rose Marie (Peetz) Olson as a baby and welcomed into their home with joy.

She was a graduate of Iron Mountain High School, Class of 1984. She met her husband, Alex (Claver) Yano and they had three children, Andrea, Chelsea and Chase. They spent many years living in places like California, Texas and Virginia due to Alex’s service in the U.S. Navy.

She was a dedicated mother and wife and had many long periods of time where she parented her three children alone, due to his military service abroad.

Rhonda was preceded in death by her father, James Edwin Olson of Spread Eagle, Wis., in April 2016; and her half-sister, Cheryl Parker of Poplarville, Miss.

She is survived by her mother, Rose Marie Olson of Sheboygan Falls, Wis.; her daughters Chelsea (Tony) Cave of Glouchester, Va., and Andrea Yano of Evans, Ga.; as well as her son, Chase Yano (17) of Saucier, Miss.; her grandchildren, Aniya Yano Wilson (10) and Aliston Yano Wilson (7); sister, Jayne (Paul) D’Alberto of Sheboygan Falls; foster sister, Jeanne (Rick) Bartels of Kingsford; and many more foster sisters; a half-sister, Shirlene Chart of Stockton, Wis.; her best friend of 38 years, Carol Scott of Iron Mountain; many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins, as well as many dear friends.

Rhonda enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and loved living in Mississippi, although she made time to visit northern Wisconsin every summer to spend time at her parent’s house in Spread Eagle. She spent time making crafts, cooking, gardening and was involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s many activities. She had a love for life and enjoyed taking road trips.

Rhonda’s life will be celebrated at a gathering on Saturday, July 20, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cornerstone Community Church: 617 S. Stephenson Ave., Iron Mountain, MI.

It will be a time to share memories and stories about her life and dinner will be provided. Pastor Andy Leaf of Cornerstone Church will officiate the service. (Please take care not to park in reserved parking near the entrance to the church).

More information will be provided on the “Rhonda Rose Olson Yano – Celebration of Life” event on Facebook.
